臺南火車站建於西元 1900 年，日治時期稱為「臺南驛」，兩層樓的建築，一樓為車站大廳、候車、月臺；二樓則是餐廳與鐵道旅館(洋式旅館)，是當時臺灣唯一設有旅館的車站，日本皇室來臺南訪察時也下榻於此。戰後，餐廳與旅館因經營問題而歇業。2017 年國定古蹟臺南車站啟動修復再利用工程將飯店七間房間以原貌修復。

Tainan Railway Station was built in 1900. During Japanese rule, it was called Tainan Train Station. A two-story building with a lobby, waiting areas, and platforms on the first floor, while a restaurant and a railway hotel (western-styled hotel) could be found on the second floor. It was the only train station with a hotel in Taiwan and Japanese royal family members also stayed in this hotel when they came to visit. After the war, the restaurant and hotel closed due to operational issues. In 2017, Tainan Railway Station, as a national-level monument, had the seven hotel rooms reconstructed to their original looks as part of the restoration construction activated.
