漫步在成大校園內的測量系館前，可以看到一顆生長茂密的老樹：雨豆樹。作為在臺灣少見的珍貴資產，當初在進行測量系館的建築規劃時，便曾刻意將建物位置後退幾許，只為讓這顆雨豆樹獲得成長茁壯的空間。雨豆樹的葉子對濕度尤為敏感，仿若含羞草一般，在濕氣較重的夜晚，便可見到它的葉片下垂閉合，因此也不失為一個用來判斷當日是否有降雨機會的天然觀測手法。

Strolling in front of the Geomatics Department building on the NCKU campus, you can see a lush Samanea Saman. As a rare asset in Taiwan, when planning the construction of the Geomatics Department building, the position of the building was deliberately set back a few meters to give this Samanea Saman the space to grow and thrive. The leaves of the Samanea Saman are susceptible to humidity, much like a mimosa. On humid nights, its leaves droop and close, making it a natural method for predicting the likelihood of rain for the day.
