03府城老行業探訪
第一代王永川(1932~2020)自幼跟著其父親學習木工,原先製作頂下桌、佛龕、菜櫥等,而後自立「永川工藝社」,因緣際會下開始製作神轎,神轎屬於細木作與鑿花結合的作品,王永川製作神轎的選材與工法講究,接合全採傳統榫卯,使得神轎輕巧堅實,聲名隨之遠播。2010年王永川經臺南市政府登錄為傳統藝術神轎製作保存者,目前已傳承至第三代,並於廠內設立展示間,拉近傳統工藝與民眾的距離。

The first generation Wang Yong Chuan (1932-2020) learned carpentry from his father since childhood, initially making items like overhead tables, Buddha-altar, and cupboards. Later, he established the "Yongchuan Crafts Society" and Started making a divine palanquin by chance. Sedan chairs are intricate pieces that combine fine-finishing carpentry and chisel flowers. Wang Yongchuan's meticulous selection of materials and craftsmanship, using traditional mortise and tenon joints, resulted in lightweight yet sturdy sedan chairs, earning him widespread recognition. In 2010, Wang Yongchuan was recognized by the Tainan City Government as a preserver of traditional art in sedan chair making. The tradition has now been passed down to the third generation, with a showroom set up in the factory to bring traditional craftsmanship closer to the public.
